Sanvedana Foundation is a charitable organization. The aim of the organization is to provide financial assistance to the needy, with the support of sensitive and capable people of our society. This assistance is provided mainly for medical and educational purposes. The organization is registered in the office of the Charity Commissioner.
There is a WhatsApp group of students of Tilaknagar Vidyamandir (Dombivali) who have passed 10th class in the year 1986. The members of the group would meet regularly for get togethers and trips. In 2017 Umesh Bodas, a batchmate, appealed to the group for financial support as he had to undergo regular dialysis due to kidney failure. It was decided that a fund should be set up to help him every month. About 60-70 members responded and a fund of around Rs. 300,000 was created and Umesh started getting financial help on a monthly basis. Unfortunately, he succumbed within six months. It was decided to use the remaining funds to help others in need. Some batchmates were helped. However, since this fund was only for the members of that particular group (students of particular batch ), Mahesh Khare raised the issue of helping other needy people of the society. Vrushali Pundale, Manoj Phatak, Deepali Tambe, Shashank Garkhedkar, Sanjeevani Kulkarni, Hemant Kayal supported the idea. Following deliberations, it was decided to set up Sanvedana Foundation in a meeting held on August 15, 2019. The link http://www.sanvedanafoundation.org was registered on August 27, 2019.
It was decided to enlist the help of Shailesh Nipunge, a social worker and consultant from Dombivali. On January 30, 2020, the application for registration of the organization was submitted to #the office of the Charity Commissioner, Thane. An internal number was obtained after verification on March 6, 2020. The work was hampered by the first wave of COVID-19 pandemic that followed. The organisation was registered on November 18, 2020 and the registration certificate was received on January 20, 2021. The PAN number of the organization was issued on March 1, 2021.
The work of Sanvedana Foundation started on March 27, 2021 by opening a bank account. The office bearers were Manoj Phatak (President), Vrushali Pundale (Treasurer), Mahesh Khare (Secretary) and Deepali Tambe, Shashank Garkhedkar, Sanjeevani Kulkarni and Hemant Kayal were the trustees. Since the organization was new, fundraising started with donations from personal contacts.
While these efforts were gaining momentum, on Wednesday 30th June 2021, a big shock came to the senses. Manoj Phatak passed away on account of COVID-19. Thereafter, Mrs. Poonam Khare, who had been supporting the organisation since the beginning, was appointed as a Trustee. She took over the responsibility of Treasurer on account of her education and experience in Commerce. Vrushali Pundale became the new President. Shashank Garkhedkar and Hemant Kayal resigned as trustees in March 2022 due to personal reasons. They shall continue to support the organization as much as possible. Following this, Viraj Deshpande and Manoj Walimbe were appointed as trustees.
